Tour Down Under

The Tour Down Under is Australia's premier international cycling race.  Staged annually since 1999, the event brings top professional cycling teams, as seen in the Tour de France, to race on the streets of Adelaide and regional South Australia over six stages (one stage per day).

Sanctioned by the international cycling federation (Union Cycliste Internationale) UCI, the event brings the look, feel and excitement of European racing to our doorstep and is one of the highest-ranked races outside of Europe and the highest in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Tour Down Under is now the first stop in the UCI ProTour world cycling calendar and the first ever event to be held outside of Europe. The 2008 Tour Down Under was a huge success attracting over 533,000 enthusiastic spectators who cheered on 133 cyclists from around the globe.  Riders included local legend Stuart O'Grady, overall winner Andre Griepel, Luis Leon Sanchez and many more.

The 2009 Tour Down Under will be held 18 - 25 January.
